    Muriatic acid ratio

    Using a 50 gallon drum.
    What is the ratio of acid to water?

    Right now I am doing 1:5
    1500 gallons SPA. 104
    IG, Plaster, 6years old.
    Sand filter Triton ll TR140.
    Taylor K-2006 Complete Pool
    Pentair brominator feeder using bromine. Bi-carbonate. Calcium chloride.

    For what purpose? It depends.

    To drop the pH and keep it stabilize at 7.5 for a chlorine pool.

    You'll want to use PoolMath to figure out how much you should add to get from one reading to another reading.

    Click the link at the top of the site here, enter your pool's size at the top, go to the bottom and select TroubleFreePool method, select your pool finish type (vinyl, plaster, etc), and select the type of chlorination you're using. Once you've done that, you can enter your current Ph, then your target Ph, and it will tell you the exact amount of Muriatic Acid to add.
    8,500gal plaster in-ground with attached spa, two floor drains, one skimmer. Chlorine, City Water.
    Pentair WhisperFlo 1hp Pump, MagnaTek Midcentury EPlus motor, Pentair CleanNClear 200SF Cartridge filter, Purex Triton MiniMax 250 Gas Heater, Pentair SunLite, AutoFill.

    You do not need to dilute the MA before adding to the pool, either. But if you do anyway, remember - acid into water, not water into acid.

    Actually I have a chemtrol that feeds the acid accordingly from the drum to the pool automatically. I wanted to know the ratio of acid to water. I said 1:5 but another pool tech said 1:8. That's a lot of dilution to my opinion. So I'm here for the correct answer.thanks
