Pool heater

I live in ND and am wondering if using a pool heater only on the weekends when I'll be using my above ground pool the most will have a negative effect on my water balance? This is my first year with a heater and would like to save money by not using it all the time. I'll also be using a solar cover most of the time.

You'll probably see increased chlorine consumption, just because people will stay in longer if it's comfortable.

The solar cover will slow it a lot, but it will allow CC to build, so don't get alarmed if you uncover and test and CC is high. If the water is clear and you still have FC, it's most likely just the cover.
