Whats the standard as far as installing a Hayward skimmer on an intex pool goes....above or below the gray seam? Anyone have pics of their above seam setup?

I've seen them done both ways with no ill effects. If you go above the seam, the pool can hold more water.

I installed mine so the top inside portion of the skimmer is in line with the grey part of the liner. Any higher and you run into the loop for the top rail. I would think this is as high as you can go.

I will have to take new ones tonight. I recently deleted them off of my work computer. I will post up tonight or tomorrow.
Congratulations, the trend last year was to not go to the seams, but I took the risk, bc I hated to loose water level, now if I have to do it again I will do it like you... ?

Would it be possible to mount the skimmer in the corner, then it could go higher up then the liner? Would only work on the square one of course.

I installed mine below the seam, now seeing it can be done above the seam I wish I had done it that way.

Corner won't work, it is not fixed. But why would you want to higher than I have done? I have no water loss at all. Higher than that and the skimmer will not work properly. The water level should be 1/2-2/3 up the skimmer.
Ok. But that's great news. No waterlevel needs to be lost ?

Has anyone moved the skimmer someplace other than the stock side? Has anyone put it opposite the the return from the filter so that you are pushing water to the skimmer? I would think with hard piping this wouldn't be too big of a deal.
I don't think that would be good for circulation. You want the water to move in a circular fashion around the pool. Also, a lot of piping...

Thank you. I got the pool set up yeaterday... half filled and plan to install the sand filter, swg and skimmer today
I decided to go above/even with seam
The top of my skimmer opening is even with the gray on the liner. Now just have to wait for it to fill up!
