HI EVERYONE as you just read I'm a new pool owner. We bought our home because we needed property, well the property included a pool which my husband and I didn't want with having little ones but we just couldn't pass up the acreage. Well I was pretty excited till my husband's job took a plummet. So we are barely staying a float and now we have a swamp in the backyard. I set up a TFP account. That was first on the list. I just measured our "kidneyish" inground plaster pool and it was 15ft wide by 30 feet long. 3ft at the shallow end and 9ft at the deep end. It also has a spa that is 8 ft round attached to it. And 3 feet deep in the center. I will get the water tested tomorrow at the local pool place. I want to use the BBB method. I know nothing about the pump just what the sticker tells me. Its a Pentair clean and Clear plus. Judging by the picture the guy at the pool store thinks it's a 420. HMMM....that's about as far as I have gotten any suggestions at this point on how to keep going????? Thanks in advance guys. I'm pretty sure this could be the death of me :/
Well, let us be the first to be honest with you because you won't get it from the pool store ....... don't rely on pool store testing - especially if you're trying to save money. That's the last place you want to be. Before you do anything else or any anything to your water, I highly suggest you order a TF-100 test kit (link below). Ask for the XL Option for additional reagents and the "Speed Stir" to efficiently mix your chemicals. You may think of this as an inconvenient expense, but I guarantee you that the kit will pay for itself in accuracy and telling you specific products you need - most at your local grocery store. Do the TF-100 first then post a full set of results for us. You'll see why. Great to have you with us.
