Hi
Have you ever thought the area might be a better flower bed? that's about where i am however, too stubborn to let something like this win. Here's a quick background and type of pool

Pool: Outdoor, in ground, built in the 80's
Lived here for 6 years, no real problems to date that could not be cleared up with shock and cleaning.

History: Pool was dark green three days ago
added 11 lbs of shock, turned cloudy overnight.....has stayed cloudy ever since.....filter cleaned three times (cartridge filter)......
Last night 7pm checked chlorine (low) added another 1lb of shock

Testing Kit: Store brand (all clear pool in Elk Grove Ca)

Now: Readings
CL = 5.0
FC = 5.0
PH = 7.0
TA = 60

Please advise on best method to get pool clear and swimming condition

Your help is appreciated.

Welcome to TFP

What we would reccomend is getting a good test kit that includes a CYA test (you left that number out) and a fas-dpd chlorine test. You need both of those to SLAM your pool to clear it up.

Shock
Level
And
Maintain

You are throwing "shock" in which is likely a product that contains either CYA or calcium, both of which can build up to undesired levels, we would reccomend liquid chlorine or bleach instead. Read up in pool school (link at top of page) and decide if you want to learn to test and take care of the water with knowledge of what you are putting in your pool and why.
