Polaris. How long to run it?

newbie here...with a newbie question. My pool is 40 x 20 feet , 40000 gallons.

i have a Polaris automatic vacuum and an automatic pool cover. Don't get a lot of leaves in the pool because I close the cover on windy days.
My question is how often and how long should I operate the Polaris ? Do I run it everyday even if the pool looks clean ? Or do I run it only when it looks dirty? And how long do I run it ?

The seemingly smart-'** answer (but it's the truth, really) is as long as it's needed.

I would start with three hours and then go up or down depending on your results. I would also start with every day and then moidify thaqt oif needed. Each pool is different and you will soon learn what your pool needs.
