Cork in Laars lite Plug Hole

I noticed an old post where @CUTiger78 suggested a cork for a worn out plug hole.

I tried it with a cork one size too small and it partially broke and is pushed into the heater

Do I need to have someone open the heater and locate it or what will happen if I leave it? (The cork piece that fell in is around 1/4" x 1/4")

I would think a piece of cork that size would make it's way out of the heater and into the pool. Have you spotted it yet?
