    Pump/motor replacement?

How do I know whether to replace the whole pump or jsut the motor...the pool was built about 18 years ago and the pump is the original one.
It was making a loud squeeling noise just before closing in sept. 2008
thanks in advance for your advice!!!

    Re: Pump/motor replacement?

You can go either way. Replacing the motor is less expensive, but you might be able to save more in the long run by replacing the entire pump. There are a lot of options. If you tell us a little bit more about what you have now, what your electric rates are, and how much you are willing to spend to save electricity in the future, we can give you much more specific advice.
