Air Bubbles in Pump Strainer Pot

Anyone know what would cause a slight amount of small bubbles to be in the pump strainer when I started the pool today. Closed everything except the main drain and they went away. Opened each skimmer individually and waited - no bubbles. Still no bubbles after an hour. The pool was shut down last night as usual and water is slightly more than half way up the skimmer. Thanks!

It's usually a suction side leak, but might be just a one off occurrence. I wouldn't worry until you see them again. But here is a link to read up on. Pool School - Suction Side Air Leaks

So, I went and checked again and still no bubbles. Turned the pump off and waited a minute and turned it back on and now small air bubbles again. Do you think it could be maybe the gasket on the top of the strainer? It seems like air may be getting in right when it is turned on and there is a change from no pressure to normal run pressure.

Ccheck the tightness of the strainer top. I had that same problem. The give away was that the pump did not loose prime over night while shut off.

ned makes sense. The water draining back to the pool is pulling a small vacuum and a little air is likely getting in the lid. It may be just a tighten, or debris on the o-ring itself. You can use gasket/o-ring lube to help it seal as well.
