Cleaning the cell.....

I am going to have to clean out a salt cell with a 4:1 Muriatic Acid wash. I don't have the fancy "end cap" to hold the solution in the cell while it fizzes away.
Is it possible to just pour the solution in a bucket and place the cell in vertically (keeping the cord and plug out)?

P.S. no one really talks about 31% or 18% acid for this?

Some you can, some you can't. You can probably go to your local hardware store and get a screw-on PVC cap, too.

I was too cheap to buy the fancy end cap and the threads are proprietary ... so, I used ... duct tape.

I put a couple over lapping strips across the bottom and wrapped them up onto the threads and then put a strip around the threads. It only needs to hold for a few minutes and I had no leaks.

You can use a rubber winter pool plug. Find a size that fits your cell, works great.

Go to the plumbing department in you local Lowes, Home Depot, or hardware store and pick up a 2" test plug. They are located in the pvc fittings area.

After installing the plug, I stand the generator in an upended 2" coupling I have.
