Been lurking for a couple of months before starting a remodel on our circa 1989 pool. Tossed a coin between filling it in and the remodel as we live in an area with expansive soil and needed to demo the concrete deck. The remodel won. We have some relatively minor work to do on the gunite shell including a structural crack that will be repaired. Also pulled permits and found out we need to replace 100 feet of wrought iron fencing as it does not meet the new city codes enacted since we originally bought the pool. In hindsight, filling it in may have been a better idea, certainly much less expensive. At least we get to enjoy the pool again!
