Hello. I joined last year, but this is my first post. Last spring I had a 14-28 11,600 gallon vinyl liner pool installed with SWCG and Hayward ecostar variable speed pump. I was very nervous at first, and I think reading this site made me even more nervous. However, within about a month my pool was so well balanced I never had to add anything after the end of May and kept sparkling blue water until closing in mid-October, although I did continue testing weekly.

I opened my pool for the first time after a closed season yesterday, and found it green for the first time. See photo. This is my first time SLAMing, and the second picture is what it looks like this morning. It's now blue, but still cloudy.

My CYA is still really low for a SWCG (about 20); however, since I'm currently using liquid chlorine to SLAM, I figure this ok. I've put some stabilizer in a sock in front of the return jet to raise it up, but there is no reason this process should not work to completion with my CYA at 20 is there? I think I'm going to open a month earlier next year.

I returned home from the office and unfortunately my FC dropped to 7 while gone. I put it back up to 16.

On the good side, the CC is down to .5.

Water is mostly clear, but not completely clear.

I'm going to do the OCLT tonight, and fingers crossed I'll be done tomorrow. I thought for sure this process would take more than a couple days (it still may).

That dark green picture was yesterday. Here is where I am now. Is this progress typical? I expected a slower process.
