Help-Adding Calcium Increaser for my pool

i was told i needed to add about 25lbs of calcium hardner to my pool this week and to do so over the span of a week about 5lbs a day. Do i really have to mix it with water in a bucket or can i dispense it directly around the perimeter of my pool? i dont feel comfortable mixing it with water

Does this pool have a vinyl liner? If so, you don't need Calcium. There's no plaster to etch.
