Hayward heater under the deck

Hi all. I would like to buy a Hayward 100kbtu heater for my above ground pool. My pool is surrounder by deck. There is about 4 feet of space below the deck. The manual says not to put heater under the deck and the top should be unobstructed. Has anyone done this type of installation? How hot is the exhaust that blows out? Can I put a sheetmetal plate right below and to the side to block the exhaust from heating the bottom of deck boards and the pool wall? Any thoughts and advice is appreciated. Thank you

I have the 300,000 BTU Hayward, and that unit gets HOT. There is no way I would mount that under a deck. There is also an exhaust on the top of that unit, which puts it over 4 feet. I don't know how much smaller the 100,000 unit is, but I would suggest not putting it under the deck.
