Purchasing a home with a pool - Assess my equipment

I've never owned a pool, so I'd love some feedback on the equipment I'll be getting to know soon. The pool is a 26,000 gallon IG with vinyl liner. The pool heater is non-functioning so that can be ignored.

In the photos you appear to have a single speed 1HP Hayward Superpump along with a Hayward Progrid DE filter, the Hayward 1 HP Superpump is about as industry standard basic pump as you can get, The Pro-Grid DE filter is also fairly standard as far as DE filters go, this is one of Haywards larger series of residential DE filters, and is a traditional DE filter unlike their Perflex series. Overall fairly basic, nothing fancy to it.
 
The broken PVC conduits and the PVC-to-flexible hose transition is worrisome. Do you know where those pipes go an why there is use of flexible tubing?
