How do I connect a hose to the drain plug port on my DE filter?

I want to rinse off my de filter element cluster while it rests in the filter body. I need to connect a hose (pool hose ideally, but garden hose would be okay) to the drain hole. It accepts a hayward 1 1/2" drain plug. How can I accomplish this?

I feel like there was a thread describing a way to add PVC fittings and/or a valve. Although that might have been for a cartridge filter. The issue is that the filter plug uses an o-ring for the seal and that is not typical for PVC fittings.
