Getting sand in the pool and after researching the issue I learned the laterals in the Pentair TA 60 need changing. Is it something a novice like myself can watch a video on how its done and do it or is it worth the expense (several hundred dollars) to have the pool guys do it? If I do it, any tips?

Pool guy told me that some folks are now changing to glass instead of sand. Is it worth the price difference?

I had glass at my last house...it worked very well.
I have sand at this new place...it works too so I don't really need to change it out.
If I had a choice/needed to change it I'd probably go glass.
