    Water leaking from junction box

We have a steady drip of water coming from this junction box. Our pool is 3 years old and we have never had this issue before. Also, I am not sure if this is related but our pool lights trip the breaker every time we try turning them on. Any ideas why this is happening? It is a thermocraft junction box.

Water has gotten into the conduit. Depending on the length of the run there could be a coupler underground that had a leak or there is a creak in the conduit caused by a tree root. Water inside is probably causing the light to trip or I have also seen where the wire nut cracks where the lights wire is connected to the light transformer and then the wire arcs and shuts the light off/trips breaker.

We opened the top of the junction box and water is just pouring out of one of the lines. I have no idea what to do next about this.

Did your part of LA flood earlier this year? If so this conduit may have taken on some water at the junction box.

Well you could kill all the power and try to wet vac the water out.

Re: Water leaking from junction box

is the junction box at least either 4 in. above the ground or deck, or at least 8 in. above the maximum water level, whichever is greater?

That is the NEC code requirement.

If not, water could be entering the conduit from your niche and overflowing at the junction box.

Otherwise, as others have said it is likely rainwater entering somehow.

Which line is the water coming from... one that does to light or the panel?
