another thing I struggle with.

when I vacuum, can I vacuum to the filter, as the sand filter foes have a basket to catch debris +a recirculation setting.

or should I vacuum using the skimmer and plate I bought that fits my skimmer?

I normally use this vacuum that has a built in debris bag, but I honestly find it leaves things behind, and is not weighted so it sometimes floats upward as I move it about the water. I am honestly sick of it, and as you know intex pools don't come with a thru-wall skimmer.

see photos so you know what I'm referring to.

If you vacuum through the skimmer then you leave in the skimmer basket which then collects the debris before it gets to the pump. You can put a stocking over the basket to trap finer debris.

I got a new weighted head, but it connects directly to hose so it would work through skimmer or pump. sorry. forgot to mention that before.
