Refinishing pool , pebbles?

Okay I know I'm asking a crazy question but......
Has anyone refinished their pool themselves with success.
I'm wondering what type of mortar to use under water? I currentlyrics have white plaster it's in pretty good shape. We just did rock work arround our pool. My husband and I are both in construction and we are thinking we could refinish our pool. I wanted to know if you guys had any thoughts on using mini pebbles,epoxy, and either mortor or concrete as an overlay to the existing plaster? Can it be done?

I think applying pool coatings (especially pebble products) requires a good bit of experience to get it done right.

I don't know your experience, so who am I to say whether you can do it or not

This is the only DIY replaster that I remember seeing here. It is quite a job!
