Too much CYA

I made a calculation error and added too much stabilizer. I'm at 55 now and it may go a little higher.

I tried backwashing the filter a couple of times to remove any remnants....but it looks like I'll need to empty the pool a little.

My question is.....is the only problem of 55 (if it stays there) a higher bleach addition ? Can I leave it at 55 and just have a higher FC? Will it degrade with time?

I'd leave it where it is at the moment, dose it higher per the chlorine/cya chart, and let rain and splash out take care of it if it is an issue. I doubt it will be.

55 is not so high if the pool is in a sunny spot.

You'll need to maintain a slightly higher minimum FC, but the actual daily use shouldn't be any higher than it would be at 40 or 50. Theoretically, it should actually be lower, but probably not enough to notice.
