Pool winter cover and tadpoles

We have had our AG pool 15+years in Ohio. I do leave a couple inches of water on the winter cover each year as it really helps the wind issue. Siphon and removing leaves/debris as needed to keep below skimmer. We have no issues with this method except for spring time frog/toad mating season which is complete by pool opening time.

Any ideas on how to prevent this? (draining water is not an option) . Is it possible to treat the above cover water?
Thanks for reading.

Hello and welcome to TFP! We have a strict "NO MATING" policy at our pool, and keep signs posted at all times to warn the critters. :p Well, even if we did, it doesn't help. I still get frogs out of our pool quite frequently. Clever little guys. Honestly, not sure of anything "chemically" you could do. Look at it as a compliment for your well-maintained pool. :)

Maybe someone else will have a thought or two. In any case, we're happy you found us. Have a nice evening.
