Tiger Shark pool cleaner question

I have a 12 year old Tiger Shark that has performed flawlessly until now. I took a lightning hit last summer that took out my power supply. I just bought a used one and it is working...power goes to the cleaner, impeller turns and pushes out water but the cleaner will only move about a foot then stops. I took it apart to be sure nothing was blocking the belt and all seems good. Out of the pool upside down it will track for a few seconds then stop. It did sit in my garage for a year and the drive belts are worn, but it was fine until the lightning took out my power supply and I parked it...any Ideas? thanks

I have the same cleaner, probably just as old. Sounds like it could be an issue with the motor/controller within the unit itself. You could try replacing the motor assembly, but you're looking at $350-500 there. Might as well look into an entirely new robot at that price since you could get all new and not just a worn out robot with new guts. If it was 12 years in operation, in Florida, it served well.
