Pump basket sealant?

Before I take the cover off the pool, I want to check and empty the basket right before the pump (not the skimmer basket). It says I need to apply something to the lid before putting it back on so it seals good, but it's Sunday and the pool stores around here are closed. Is there something I can pick up at Home Depot or an auto parts store that will serve the same purpose?

You want silicon grease. They should have it somewhere near the faucet repair stuff.
