new to the forum- introduce myself

I'm reytony from Northern California near Sacramento, just retired as an engineer and have started really taking serious interest in the pool now that I'm retired. I have a gunite pool built some 10 yrs ago with most of the bells and whistles installed that are hip during that time. Now, am still using a pool service company to do the chemicals for me for now. Most of my interest now are the equipment and the accessories to it. I have gone through most of the threads of subject matters that I could relate to specially dealing with the bells and whistles that is starting to hound us for the last 2 years. I have been going to our neighborhood pool store but all I hear are recommendations that will cost me an arm and a leg.
My signature tells the pool size I have and the key equipment that are used specially filters and pumps.
From what I have seen so far, this will be an interesting and informative forum.
    Regards, reytony
I have a 10 yr old 18'X30' free form gunite in ground pool and a raised spa with a pebble tec fina sheen finish. Equipments were mainly Sta-rite system 3 modular media filter, Sta-rite centrifugal pumps with Jandy valve actuators. The main heating capability is done through Sta-Rite SR pool and spa natural gas heaters while my control system is through Jandy Aqualink RS with a PDA 6 handheld.

Thanks to all for welcoming me. Look forward for all recommendations and suggestions in the future. My responses will be days delayed as I seldom go to my computer.
