mixing different bleach strengths?

Hi,

I asked this question in my "bulk bleach storage" post, but I remembered that new questions are best asked in a new thread. So, my question is whether if I already have 12.5% in a tank, can one safely add 8.25% as long as one adjusts the dosing for the resulting combined dose? Not something I would plan to do, but if I already had one type and couldn't find the same strength, is there any harm in mixing? My gut says "no", but I thought I'd check.

No, mixing 8 bleach and 12 bleach will only dilute the mix.

Thanks for the quick replies. Sometimes one's gut response is on point, but other times (like mixing tri-chlor and cal-hypo) are less obvious.

It's a very prudent question to ask anytime you're mixing chemicals. Better to ask than have a problem.
