Have you tried to use PoolMath? Set your pool size, current pH and TA, and target pH and it will calculate how much borax to add.

Should be fine. Regular is good. A couple things to always look for ... the ingredients on the label should clearly state "Sodium Hypochlorite", and there should also be a strength listed (i.e. 6%, 8.25%, etc). If you don't see those things listed, I'd leave it and try another generic brand. You might also see a Julian Date code printed on the bottle, something like "16031" which would be 2016 Jan 31st - numerical sequence. Today is something like "16089". The newer the better.
