hayward multiport valve needs replacing??

Is this the way the inside of the hayward multiport valve is supposed to be? It is missing parts of two channels and I cannot tell if it was made this way or if it is broken.[attachment=0:39y1t09v]multiport valve apr 08.jpg[/attachment:39y1t09v] :cry:

It looks like the track is chipped just above the spot where you can see the glue, about 2:00 in the picture. Is that right or am I just seeing things? The larger space where there is no track is fine, and it looks like even where it might be chipped the gasket is holding on, so you're probably ok (aside from needing a new gasket).
 
Yes, I think it is chipped in two places. I have a new gasket, but I've been told both that it needs to be glued and then I've been told it needs to just be set in there with silicone. I don't know what to believe.
