Well it's time to replace this old metal D.E filter 60 sq/ft( Pac Fab Nautilus S Steel NS-60), rust and pinholes/salt water. The pool is around 25000- 30 000 gal .
Looking at Hayward Star-Clear cartridge filters C900 or C1200. After a few phone calls, could not find an answer pointing to which one to use.

I am using a weak chinese pump rated 1.5 HP which brought pressure from 10 to 5. Very poor stream out coming from jet. Will replace it.

What would be a good recommendation for the pump? The pipes are 2" wide now with adapters to 1.5" on pump. Use 2" all along as well on filter?

Thanks

Welcome to TFP!

Forget the flow rates listed on the filter, they are maximums. You want as large of a cartridge filter as you can get for your large pool size and long summer season. 120sqft is way too small. You should have something around 400sqft.

Go big - Hayward C5025 if you can find one.

Cartridge filters are about $200 every 5 years or so. Cleaning is easy, but I recommend a "Filter Flosser" ($25 from amazon) to speed up the job.

I have no where to backwash to, so cartridge is my only real option.
