Cleaner stopped working, valve on the hose seems stuck, how to fix?

My cleaner recently stopped working. On closer inspection, all the water was being diverted out of the valve on the hose at it's connection point. I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like. Is it simply stuck, or do I need to replace the assembly?

Unless you can find the missing pieces, it's best to just replace it. They are readily available, either Polaris or Pentair.

I think the practices regularly espoused on this forum (especially the BBB method) are outstanding; however my comments will be often oriented towards the goal of getting it done, and getting it done right now!
