    For those with an auto cover.

    Hey guys, is a heater necessary with an auto cover?? I live in Long Island NY, I'm about to go forward with my pool builder just curious if I can save a few grand and skip the heater if go auto cover??

    It depends on your goals. I have both a heater and an auto-cover. The auto-cover won't really extend your swim season, but it will help retain heat overnight.

    Get the heater + auto cover

    My pool warms up faster when the auto-cover is opened during the day to catch the sun's rays. Closing it at night helps preserve the temp a bit, as the nighttime air temp isn't blowing across the water.
