Quality of Sand for Sand Fliter

Hi. I am replacing my sand filter and will be buying new sand ... obviously. Does the quality make a difference? I see 50# bags for $13 and others for $24. Should I look for a certain kind?

    Thanks,
    Rich

This thread from August 2015 had a pretty good comparison side-by-side of HTH brand versus QUIKRETE Sand. Turns out the Quikrete product was not at all properly sized for sand filters and may have been a problem at one of their quarries.

My findings on how not all sand is created equal

Make sure it is #20 silica sand. Playsand will not work. Other than that it should not make too much difference.
