will this cast iron hydraulic valve rust too much to use for bathing?

i have a nice cast iron valve which is rated for water (Unitite 135020). i know it wouldn't fly for potable water, but does it work for a pool or tub? a little bit of rust, i'm sure i can catch in the filter, but if any has experience with cast iron in their plumbing, i'd like to know how it went.

I wouldn't use it. Soluble iron in a pool or spa is problematic and VERY frequently not "catchable" in any filter. It simply isn't worth the chance of having the iron precipitate onto your pool surface.

i wasn't aware there would be contamination at the molecular (?) level.
If you manage the pH correctly, there won't be. But if the pH is too low for too long, the iron will start to "dissolve" into the pool water only to precipitate back out on some surface in your pool.
