I also have a 20x40 pool, but mine is only 27K gallons. You may want to check your volume. There is a rough calculator at the bottom on the PoolMath page.

According to poolmath it is correct. I got the number from a pool contractor that came to the house. Deep end is 10'. Shallow is 3.5'
