3,000 gallon AG pool w/cover in CA winter: FC level drop comparisons?

I'm just curious if anybody on the forum has a similar situation to me, i'm wondering what your FC levels are and how quickly they drop.

I have an above ground 3,000 gallon vinyl pool with cover.
Southern CA, water temp is around 55-60
Run the sand filter 4 hours a day.

Seems I'm only losing about 1ppm of FC every week, which is awesome.
Is this pretty standard under these conditions?
I knew the FC would last longer in winter, but didn't expect it to last THIS long!

My pool is bigger but yeah the FC is holding with the cooler temps. BUT I am having to be very careful as we are having record highs right now LOL The water temps have not quite caught up with the air temps so I am good. I add chlorine about every 3 days or so depending on the rain.

You also have the pool, covered so you have nearly eliminated the the sun's ability to consume the chlorine, and as already mentioned, the cooler temps. All perfectly normal.
I'd bet you my bikini you'll never get TFP water from a pool store!

A VERY important principle of TFP is that two things consume chlorine....

    1. Sunlight

    2. Organics in your pool.

You have eliminated the sunlight and apparently closed with a crystal clear pool (no organics)

You are seeing the results of your good pool management.

Re: 3,000 gallon AG pool w/cover in CA winter: FC level drop comparisons?

    Just a quick followup:
On December 14th the FC was 8.
On January 18th the FC was 4.
So less than 1 FC drop per week!
PH is holding at 7.5 with a water temp of about 58.
Great advice on this forum, very helpful.
I think I'll leave my pool open year round from now on, very easy to maintain.
    Cheers!
