Raising CY

I see posts that it takes a week for stabilizer to show in tests. The stabilizer I use is dissolved in less than 8 hours. Wouldn't the test be accurate the next day? I run the pump for 24 hours as well after I add stabilizer.

Maybe. I takes mine about 3 days. We say it can take up to a week because others on the forum have reported that.

By far the best way to measure CYA is to calculate the dose. If your pool is XXX gallons and you are sure of that, simply use pool math to Bring CYA to your desired amount. Then dose accordingly and you are done. You can double check yourself with the test but it should be on the money by calculation.

Thanks, I did use pool math. My pool is free form so how much it holds is a best guess by the builder + or - 500 gals. I'll wait a few days to recheck.

so that would give you roughly a 5% error.....that's perfectly adequate.
