    New pump reccomendations

Hey there everybody, well the motor on my existing pump has died and I having a tough time choosing a replacement. Been thinking either a two speed or VS.
I'll list my current setup and if someone could recommend me a pump it would be greatly appreciated.

    inground plaster pool, volume: 30k
to be honest i'm not too sure about the volume. I got that value from a water statement when the pool was replastered and refilled.

plumbing diameter: 1.5" all around, suction and returns

    previous motor specs: hp: 1
    sf: 1.65
    voltage:220

current electrical costs: 15 cents per KwH
usage : ~220 KwH per month, without any pump usage, has not ran for quite a while now

    thanks for the help guys!!

    Nice antique.

Personally, I think you're better off with a 1 hp 2 speed pump.

The grid filtration area is 48 square feet
    And rated at 96 GPM

Edit: according to the owners manual, the flow rate for the pentair fns plus 48, with 48" sqft of filtration, is 120 gpm, based on 2.5 GPM per sqft. Poolcenter.com has it listed at 2.0 GPM per sqft , or 96 GPM.

Nice pool in last pic. Either 2 speed or VS would be better than what you have

    Re: New pump reccomendations

With a filter that size, I would suggest a pump capable of delivering just a bit less gpm than your filter is capable of.......that'll work out to about a 1 hp or perhaps 1.5 hp pump.

The folks that pay the extra bucks for a VS pump really seem to like them but I think a 1.5 hp 2-speed would be an ideal choice.

Any pumps in particular that you would recommend for my application?

I would get the 1.5 HP for a pool as large as yours.

I have no opinion between brands and the variations within pool pumps are small enough that I am not capable of ascertaining each one. In the 9 years of the forum, no one brand stands out.

    Re: New pump reccomendations

The 1.5 HP SuperFlo only produces 4 GPM more than the 1 HP SuperFlo but uses 350 watts to get you that. Hardly worth it.

Also, the WhisperFlo WFDS-3 (3/4 HP) has about the same flow rate as a SuperFlo 1.5 HP but the Whisperflo uses about 150 watts less power on high speed. I see no reason to go with a SuperFlo 1.5 HP. The 1 HP SuperFlo is more than sufficient.
