Switching out single speed pump to vs. Stick with same HP rating?

I am going to purchase a VS pump to replace my single 1.5 HP singke speed. Should I increase the HP rating on the VS pump or stick with 1.5 HP? My gut tells me to stick with 1.5 HP. What am I not taking into account?

However, it most cases, you rarely ever need a larger pump. Is there a specific reason you think you might need a larger pump?
