Hello to All,

We have a pool service but I am starting to learn the chemistry here and doing testing w my TF-100 kit.

Our pool was filled w water in late Jan 2015...have a large spa [800 gal] w 8 jets & blower that has a spillover into pool. Have not used the spa but only about 3-4 times max since we've had the pool. Last time I used the spa 2 weeks ago and more so tonight, I noticed there were pieces of 1/4" size debris moving around inside the spa. Since it was night time when I used it both times, you could see the things in there better w the LED light. When I turned off the blower, it was much more conspicuous. What I am thinking is that since I do not use the spa that often, mold or something formed in the lines, but it seems much more present when I turned on the blower. For example, when I got in tonight after temp reached 101, I did not see anything really visible in there, but after I turned on the blower, then off again w in 15 sec's, I noticed the funk. I turned off the blower bc it was so loud I could not hear the WS broadcast. I took my net and filtered out the stuff. It wasn;t until I turned on the blower again ran it for minute or two then turned it off and it was really in there....netted it as much as I could again, then I just turned the controls from SPA MODE to POOL MODE and ran the pump to clean out the spa and I have the robot shark going too in the pool.

Our pool temp in Hou as cooled pretty well from the low 80's to now 70-71 degrees. Is mold forming in the water lines, or is this something else? What can I do now to rectify the problem? And, then, what can I proactively do to prevent this from happening again? If you have any questions, pls let me know?

Thank you very much for your feedback,
tstex

I determined this was coming in when I used the blower...I ran the blower for 4-5 min in 3-5 different runs and then netted what was floating around and ran the Shark to the get the rest, while the pump was off...I have concluded that I need to run the blower periodically [2-3 times per week] to make sure nothing settles in there and grows...I would guess this is the same principle as doing so w the scuppers and their water lines to refresh them and pump in newly treated pool water..

Hopefully if someone else has this problem, they can see this info and it will help them - best luck to all

I have our program to turn on the spa mode for 15 minutes (flush out main drains), the spa jets 5 minutes and the blower 1 minute at the end of each day to get fresh chlorine in all the pipes. I didn't realize to do this the first year we had bought this house. Once I did this I never have any problems with the spa water.

Thx wjr75.

Our spa and pool are connected & the pump under pool mode pumps water into pool & into spa jets & then the water from Spa spills over into pool. Is your set up diff where spa & pool are independent of each other?

When I change from pool to spa mode only, the water from pump goes only to spa & is then heated too, no spillover. When I did this, and it was in the nite, I could see w the LED light that everything was still crystal clear. Then I cranked on the blower and it wasn't until the blower was off & the water turbulence subsided, that I could see all the small & clear like "frosted flakes" throughout the spa..w the light, you could see them everywhere.

Hopefully I have successfully flushed the lines, but I will soon find out again & post back.

Thanks again for your feedback,
Tstex

Mine has the spill over also but to get chlorine in the two main drains on the bottom of the spa it needs to actually be put into spa mode which then filters from the bottom. I do this for 15 minutes at the same time I'm running the jets and blower as indicated above.

Ahhh....I just got on my laptop and saw you footer and noted overflow, but did not know I had to run the drain too...I will incorporate that regiment and implement it when I get to the programming remote...good deal.

one final question: do you run your heater while in spa/blower mode for just the circulation needs?

Again, appreciate your follow-up, tstex

Thanks again. When I hit the SPA key to change from Pool, As the SPA is highlighted, so is the FILTER/PUMP and HEATER. I guess the PB programmed it this way if we want to use the spa. However, when I set up my new program to run the SPA/JETS/BLOWER, I will obviously not include the heater....thanks again and stay warm up there - tstex
