Two Hole Controvercy

Closing a 35K in-ground, 2 skimmer, 1 main, vinyl liner with historic drainage/liner floating issues in the spring.

Keeping the water level topped to keep liner down. Gizmo in each skimmer.

Controversy is over which of two holes gizmo should sit in while in water all winter.
Suction to filter or dummy hole?

"Gifted's" line of thought, the gizmo should go in the dummy with a real pvc plug and pipe thread to ensure no water gets into suction line when gizmo gets crushed.

Thoughts?

To answer your question, this is all "personal preference". By placing Teflon tape on the Gizmo, you should not have any water leaking into the skimmer plumbing, especially if the water is lowered below the skimmer and lines completely drained. If the threads are damaged, then you may want to plug the skimmer line with a black rubber plug. If you suspect any leak in your system, then RV-Pool Anti-freeze is recommended. Unless you are in an area where the winter is so severe, the Gizmo will absorb the ice and not be crushed. Depending on the severity of the winter in your area, you may wish to add a small plastic bottle filled up with the RV Antifreeze as a secondary option in the skimmer basket.

Additionally, if the liner has a history of floating in the spring, you may want to call a "drainage expert" to investigate your property and possibly come up with a solution (just a thought).
