The valve might not be bad, but could be stuck by some dirt or debris. Other than a pool tech who does scuba repair, draining it down is all I know. Hopefully, another TFP expert has another way. Oh, yeah, why do you think your HV is leaking?
long story but basically plugged off the two skimmers and let main drain serve as only return to the pump ... when I plugged the skimmers the water dropped to the bottom of the tile and everything has been good for about 6-8 weeks ....but now suddenly loosing water again. now that fall is here getting more leaves in the pool and the drain will get covered by leaves and I figure the suction from the pump has pulled the valve open and like you stated prob trash is keeping it open .....I'm thinking about just plugging the valve until we decide what we are going to do .... meaning rehab ... As long as I keep the pool full there should be no issue with capping the HV?
