hayward skimmer - remove from pool when taking down intex pool?

Hi folks - I, like many, take down my intex ultraframe 18 x 52 pool for inside storage during the winter.

For the folks that have installed a Hayward skimmer that take down the pool, do you remove it or leave it attached? I'm concerned that if I remove it, the cut out for the skimmer may rip/tear while folding up the liner for storage. Leaving it on obviously makes storage a bit more cumbersome.


Any advice would be greatly appreciated as always.

I removed mine and left the gasket in place, my first year with the skimmer, guess we will see what happens next spring

I am pretty sure all those whom install the Haywood style skimmer mod, are leaving their pools up all year. Be pretty hard to fold up and store away.

Tx for the replies....I'm going to try folding it up in a manner that ends up with the skimmer on top. Since I just store it on a large shelf in my basement I have the room.
