Pool covered, spa open??? Merodynamic Pools?

In ATL, and considering keeping pool open over winter. I want to cover pool to keep leaves out, and possibly use it if warm enough over winter. The spa is part of the pool in the sense that it shares plumbing and pours into pool. I'm thinking about keeping that uncovered and using over the winter as I can heat it separately. Any advice or feedback on that plan, i.e. that will work ok, or things I should be concerned about?

Last, I'm looking at buying pool cover from Merodynamic Pools - anyone have experience with them?
