Pool Builder will not install Prizma

We are in the process of a pool build, also with Shasta in the West Valley area. Right now they have finished the dig, plumbing and rebar, the shotcrete is scheduled for tomorrow.

We had been sold on the Prizma system and looked forward to a more trouble-free maintenance regimen. Last week however we received an email (and the next day a letter) from Shasta saying they have had too many customer issues with the Prizma system and no longer sold them. They will not be installing the Prizma system on our pool and we are waiting for their call to decide where to go next.

Has anyone else heard about this?

Are there any automated chemical delivery systems that have worked well or should we just plan on testing and adding chemicals ourselves?

I think your pool builder did you a favor. That system seems to tie two less than optimal systems together tests strips and chemical automation.

The system "reads" test strips to decide how much of which chemical to add to the pool.

Test strips are generally called "guess strips" because the information they provide is poor on a good day.

Other automation systems use electronic sensors to decide how much of which chemical to add, but they are not infallible either. I have read reports of an automation system dumping an entire tank of acid into the pool and other ones dumping the entire tank of chlorine into the pool.

So, what to do? We think the TFP system is the most simple way to go. Accurate testing which will allow exact additions to your pool to keep it balanced. Most spend no more than a few minutes a day dealing with chemical testing and additions.
