POLL with pictures - Yellow mustard or green

Really need a definitive answer here to determine how high to go with SLAM. Also, does CYA protect a vinyl liner from the harsh affects of chlorine?

Can't see the drain at deep end.

    Deep end.

Deposits this morning after brushing last night around 6 pm.

Entire surface has a layer since 6 pm last night that can be brushed into a cloud.

I would say that it is mustard algae. And, yes, cyanuric acid does protect the liner.

I believe what you see on the floor is regular (but dead) algae.

Regardless, SLAM as if it were mustard algae.....all it takes is a little extra chlorine and you're all set.

Naturally, the advice we give begins and ends with test results. You should post yours.

Ned, it's much easier for advice givers to follow your complete story if you keep all your posts together in one thread.

Yesterday you posted that you had a CYA of 40.

That link will take you to the Chlorine/CYA chart and give you the levels for minimum, target maintenance, and SLAM levels.

Also, Pool School has a wealth of information for you. The link is at the top of each page on this site. Welcome to TFP!
