sorry, I am not sure how to start a new thread. I have a 27 round pool. The pool looks awesome but when I brush the bottom I get green dust? the ph tested a bit high at 7.8 but chlorine tested fine. this has only started in the past 2 weeks and it will not go away. when I backwash it is very green from the discharge hose? Any help available?

Thanks

Hi joejoe, and welcome to TFP ,

I'm from Ky. too. It sounds like you have an algae bloom, and will need to do a SLAM in order to kill it out. http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/125-slam-shock-level-and-maintain-shockingl

Here are a few links to look over when you can.

I have a few questions:

1) What test kit are you currently using to check your levels? Is it one of our recommend kits which would be the TF 100 or the Taylor K-2006 test kit. If not that will be an important tool that you'll need to get started with what we call a SLAM process. http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/125-slam-shock-level-and-maintain-shockingl

2)You said your chlorine tested fine. Can you tell me about what time the level was checked, and what that level was?

3) What chemicals are you using in your pool? (i.e.)powder shock, tabs/pucks, algaecide, clarifier, etc.)

Once we get the answers to these questions, then we will go from there.

We are here to help. So feel free to post any questions you may have a long the way. Have a wonderful night.
