What size cover do I get for a 37' round above ground pool?

Sounds like a stupid question but wait...I want the cover to fit taught on the pool, I want to hang water filled jugs around it so it pulls tight, which will make it easy to keep the leaves off of it. Pool covers often have 3-4 feet of extra material, which would make my plan difficult.

So, am I barking up the wrong tree here? Should I just get a leaf net instead? Any ideas?

It's not going to fit tightly on the pool as you're imagining. Rainwater tends to collect in the center. You may consider adding a stack of inner tubes to drain the water away from the center. Pump it off as necessary.
