What is this connection?

Hello,
we just renovated our pool that came with the house. Trying to get the pool piping fixed and found this weird looking connection ( the black color rubber tube)and can't figure out what it is and should I replace it and with what?

That is a flexible rubber coupling. It is OK to use that with PVC.

Looks like that is on the pressure side of your system and I would remove it. It is a cheap, cheap connection and will likely continue to swell and perhaps leak.

Oh, yep, not on pressure side.

Replace it with a union. The outer ring unscrews. The two ends glue to the existing plumbing. If there's any flex at all in the pipes, it shouldn't be any big deal to do it in place.

Thank you.. I don't know wht is the pressure side :grin: but it's right on top of the motor..connecting to the filter.. Also I am changing the motor so thinking to change the connections...

The pressure side is everything after the pump.
The suction side is everything in front of the pump.
