Dry well/french drain

Has anyone gone this route for their ODK build?

I am putting a small sink for hand/utensils washing, and will need to drain an ice bin as well, so in terms of greywater amounts should be fairly small.

Thinking of going the buried 20gal drum with gravel field route.

Anyone had a bad experience? Smells? Backed up drains?

Perhaps some installation photos?

Any recos will be highly appreciated.

That is what my Bother-in-law was going to help us do with our pool house until we decide to remove all water and such......Too many people saying "Oh I could just move in and pay rent" and mean it! AH NO! That room is just storage now!

Sounds like a fine plan. You might check for any code issues. As far as smell / dissolving small foods, you can use Walex deodorizer (about $8 over at Amazon or more at RV stores).

It's not to code and you might want to mention it when you sell the house. -- but it's what I was planning until my wife vetoed the sink.

Yes. It's a tablet that dissolves any food residue and smell. Use as needed (every few weeks/months/etc)

I've done it. Sink is only really to rinse hands, put ice in etc so I decided to go that route.

Only had the kitchen in a couple of weeks but so far so good.

I tied my sink drain into my yard drainage, it runs to the front yard and then out to our street.

I only wash my hands, and no food products in the sink.
