is this right?

I tested the water in my pool yesterday

FC 1
CC 0
Ph 7.3
TA 110
CYA 100ish (maybe even 90)
CH 90

Because of the high CYA, I needed to get my FC up to around 10. I used the pool calculator and figured I needed to add 3 gallons of bleach. Today, I went out and checked and the FC was only 3.5. Can that be right? Am I doing something wrong?

TIA

If you just opened the pool for the spring, it is likely that there were, and perhaps still are, some organics in the water that need to be burned out with chlorine. A rapid loss of chlorine the first few times you add chlorine after opening the pool is fairly common. You should keep raising the FC level to at least 15, and perhaps a little higher, until the FC level holds steady overnight. If the water turns at all cloudy or murky then raise FC to 25 until it holds overnight.
